Meet the Doctors

 Native to nearby Barrington, Dr. Gery Herrmann attended Miami University in Ohio for his undergraduate studies. He received his DVM degree in 1983 from the University of Illinois-Champaign-Urbana , and has been practicing at the Mundelein Animal hospital since 1986. Along with dogs and cats he treats a variety of exotic animals, such as reptiles, birds, ferrets, other small mammals and recently a wallaby.  Dr. Herrmann  is a member of the Association of Reptiles, an active member of the American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinarian Medical Association. He has served on the board of the Chicago Veterinarian Medical Association and the Chicago Herpetological Society. Dr. Herrmann lives with his wife Darcy, a registered nurse. They have  a variety of snakes, lizards and turtles. He enjoys sailing, skiing, scuba diving and hunting with his German Short Haired Pointer, Jorma.  __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Dr.Tim and Charlie

Dr. Tim Sullivan was born and raised in neighboring Libertyville. He attended the University of Illinois-Champaign-Urbana and graduated in 1983. Dr. Tim Sullivan has been working at the Mundelein Animal Hospital since it opened in 1973, assisting in the kennel and treatment areas where he gained valuable experience. He became a full time associate in 1983 and assumed co-ownership in 1986 with Dr. Herrmann after purchasing the practice from his oldest brother Dr. Ed Sullivan.  Dr. Sullivan is a member of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.  He has acquired a loyal following of clients over the past 25 years he has been at the hospital, and feels its heartwarming to have been able to care for so many pets.  He values the close and most often times, personal relationship he builds with his clients.  Dr. Sullivan has two beagles named Emma and Charlie, who occasionally help Dr. Sullivan visit clients and patients in the exam rooms.  Charlie (pictured)  is usually seen making his rounds meeting and greeting everyone in the lobby!

 Dr. Tim Wallace attended the University of Illinois-Champaign-Urbana where he received his degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1973. He has worked in the Chicagoland area at other various hospitals before coming to the Mundelein Animal Hospital in 1995.

Although quiet and reserved in nature, Dr. Wallace’s funny and irreverent sense of humor brings a positive and upbeat attitude to the hospital. His caring, thorough and precise treatment makes him a favorite of clients and pets alike!  Dr. Wallace enjoys bird watching and photography, and has a parakeet named Green Bird.  Dr. Wallace is a member of the American Veterinarian Medical Association, the Chicago Veterinarian Medical Association and president of the Evanston North Shore Bird club.

 Dr. Alison Wolfgram was born in Indianapolis, grew up in Nebraska and Barrington, Illinois, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kenyon College and a Master of Science degree from the University of Arizona. Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Wolfgram worked on a dairy farm in Taupiri, New Zealand. Dr. Wolfgram was employed as a large animal veterinarian in northern Wisconsin before coming to the Mundelein Animal Hospital in 2007.  She has volunteered with the Humane Society of the United States Rural Veterinary Services, setting up mobile spay/neuter clinics on the Lower Brule and Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Dr. Wolfgram is a member of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and is active with the Barrington Breakfast Rotary Club.  She shares her home with her cat Poppy, a west Philadelphia native, and her very rambunctious golden retriever Guernsey. In her free time, Dr. Wolfgram enjoys running, gardening and hiking.

 Dr. Stefanie Kols Altneu graduated from the University of Illinois-Champaign-Urbana Veterinary School in 2004, and has been at the Mundelein Animal Hospital ever since. Along with dogs and cats she treats a variety of exotic animals, such as reptiles, birds, ferrets, other small mammals. She is a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians, the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. She now volunteers at Naper Settlement as a historic interpreter in 1840′s clothing at a living museum. Recently married, Dr. Kols Altneu and her husband share their home with their three cats, D’Artagnan, Nermal, and Talon, three geckos, and a box turtle.

Dr. Shannon Long joined the Mundelein Animal Hospital in 2010. She received her B.S. in Zoology at Miami University in Ohio, graduated as a Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine from the University of Illinois in 2001, and has been practicing in the Chicago area since.  She and her husband have been married since 2005 and have a beautiful daughter.  They also have two  “Holstein” cats, siblings named Celery and Asparagus (from the musical Cats).  Dr. Long enjoys biking, reading, travel, photography, and spending time with family and friends.Her interest in veterinary medicine began with the dogs her family had while growing up as a child.  As a veterinarian, she sees a wide variety of pets. Not only will she see your dogs and cats, but exotics that includes birds and reptiles just to name a few.  She is a member of the CVMA and the AVMA.
